Giraffe

Giraffes dwell on the African savannah, south of the Sahara desert. They are mostly found in the wooded grassland areas. The Egyptians and Greeks believed that these creatures were a mixture of a camel and leopard, and called them camelopards. With its long neck, the giraffe is the tallest animal in the world. Giraffes feed on the leaves on top of trees, and their long necks and 18 inch tongues let them reach up high to graze on the tender new growth. Giraffes often get hungry, and eat a lot.
